# Before you start

What you need before you set up your community manager. Setup takes about 15 minutes.

You set up Eirin once, from the dashboard at [app.lysto.gg/eirin](https://app.lysto.gg/eirin). It starts reading about your game straight away. Have these ready:

| What you need                                                                                | Why                                                                         | Required? |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------- |
| **15 minutes**                                                                               | The time setup takes                                                        | Yes       |
| **Your game's store link** | An App Store, Play Store or Steam link, so Eirin knows which game to follow | Yes |
| **A work email for your agent**, in your company domain (for example `eirin@yourstudio.com`) | Lets your agent use email and Slack | No |

{% hint style="info" %}
**Why give your agent its own email?** With its own address, your agent can send scheduled reports, get platform alerts, and work in email and Slack like any other teammate. It doesn't need to use someone else's inbox.
{% endhint %}

## Email or chat only?

|                              | With a work email | Without one |
| ---------------------------- | ----------------- | ----------- |
| Web chat                     | Yes               | Yes         |
| Reports and replies by email | Yes | No |
| Slack                        | Yes               | No          |

If you skip the work email, you talk to your agent in web chat, and scheduled reports go to the manager's own email. A work email can't be changed once you add it, so choose it carefully.

## Who can give Eirin instructions

You sign in with the **manager's work email**. This is the email you use to give Eirin instructions, and Eirin only follows instructions from this address. Personal addresses such as Gmail or Yahoo don't work.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://eirin-ai.gitbook.io/eirin-ai-docs/getting-started/before-you-start.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
