# Set up auto-replies

Connect the places where Eirin replies (App Store, Play Store, Discord, Instagram), teach it your voice, test it, and decide whether routine replies post on their own.

Eirin drafts a reply for every new store review it reads, and can also answer public comments on your social channels. Everything below happens on the **Reply setup** tab of your agent's profile. A badge on the tab shows how many steps are still open.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Short on time?** This step is optional. Skip it now and come back to **Profile → Reply setup** whenever you're ready.
{% endhint %}

Stores and the other channels are set up in the same place, but they work a little differently. Store replies use your **Reply rules**. Discord, Instagram and support email replies use a shared **base voice**, plus anything extra you add for each channel. Both are covered below.

## Stores

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Store connections

Open **Reply setup → Store connections**.

**Google Play Store**

1. Click **Copy** next to our service account email and invite it in Play Console. Tick **I've invited this email with "View app information and download bulk reports"**. Click **Show me how** for a walkthrough with screenshots.
2. Paste your **Cloud Storage URI** (click **Where do I find this?** if you're not sure).
3. Click **Link Account**.

**Apple App Store**

1. Enter the **Key ID** and **Issuer ID** (click **How do I get this?** for the walkthrough).
2. Upload the **API Key file (.p8)**.
3. Click **Link Account**.

Each store has its own **Enable auto-reply to reviews** checkbox. It is **off by default**, and you can turn it on or off at any time after connecting.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Reply rules

Open **Reply rules**. Eirin writes a first draft of your reply rules from your past replies: your voice and tone, where to send support questions, common topics, and what not to promise. Edit the text, then click **Save rules**. Eirin uses the saved rules for every store reply.

![Reply rules, drafted from your past replies](https://592420414-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGQPBrXn3FlQhSCpExATE%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-43749cf640e141acf0eb66ade348f5587e88a64b%2F33_Auto-replies_step2_reply-rules.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Preview replies

Open **Preview replies**, pick a **Source** (App Store or Play Store) and click **Generate previews**. Eirin picks 15 random reviews from that store and drafts a reply to each one using your saved rules. Nothing is posted. This is just to check the voice. If a reply sounds wrong, go back to **Reply rules**, change them, and generate again.

![Preview replies: real reviews with drafted replies](https://592420414-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGQPBrXn3FlQhSCpExATE%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-70f75f6675bd1eb6f726228a88bd56cec7abaadc%2F34_Auto-replies_step3_preview-replies.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Test a review

Open **Test a review**. Pick a **Rating**, paste any review into **Review text**, and click **Generate reply** to see exactly how Eirin would answer with your saved rules.

![Test a review: a pasted review and Eirin's reply](https://592420414-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGQPBrXn3FlQhSCpExATE%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-3262d9761c7e114b3dbca7d052e9061140826329%2F35_Auto-replies_step4_test-a-review.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Discord, Instagram and support email

The **Social connections** tab appears once you connect Discord, Instagram or a support mailbox on the **Sources** tab. Here, you choose for each account whether Eirin replies or only reads.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Turn replies on for each account

Open **Reply setup → Social connections**. Each connected account is listed under **Accounts** with a **Connected** badge and a switch. The switch is **off by default** ("listen only, no replies are posted"). Turn it on and the row reads "replies on: new comments get an automatic reply".

Click a row to open **What Eirin replies to here**:

* **Discord**: player messages in the community server. Eirin replies to player questions it can answer in the connected channels, and the bot posts the reply in the channel. Up to 2,000 characters.
* **Instagram**: comments on posts and reels. One reply per person per post. Instagram hides comments that contain links, so replies never include one. Up to 2,200 characters.
* **Support Email**: mail players send to your support address. Replies go into the player's own thread as a private email, with no length limit. With replies on, the row reads "replies on: each draft waits for your approval", because support replies are never sent without a person approving them.

Mentions, story replies and direct messages aren't handled yet.

![Social connections, with Discord connected and set to listen only](https://592420414-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGQPBrXn3FlQhSCpExATE%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-c265ed05ac68725accae3610e048e510d9aeccaa%2F48_Auto-replies_step5_social-connections.png?alt=media)

{% hint style="info" %}
**Replies only apply to new comments.** Eirin answers comments that arrive after you switch replies on, on new posts and older ones. Comments that were already on your posts are left alone.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Social reply rules

On **Reply rules**, below the store rules, **Social reply rules** has two parts:

* **Base voice: every social reply.** You can read it but not edit it. It sets the tone, the sign-off and what not to promise for every social reply. Your guardrails still come first.
* **Per-source additions.** Open a channel, type anything you want to add on top of the base rules (for example "Lowercase, no links, keep it to 1 or 2 sentences"), and click **Save override**. The badge shows **Base only**, **Default** or **Override**. Click **See what Eirin actually uses on Discord** to read the final rules.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Preview and test social replies

The **Source** picker on **Preview replies** and **Test a review** lists your social channels next to the stores.

* **Preview**: click **Generate previews** to pull recent comments from that channel and draft a reply to each. Nothing is posted.
* **Test**: comments don't have star ratings. Paste the comment, add the **channel or thread context** if you want (the post caption for Instagram, or the earlier messages in the thread for support email), and click **Generate reply**. Eirin works out the mood and intent of the comment and shows both under the reply.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Decide how replies post

* **Off** (the default everywhere): every draft waits for you in the workspace. See [Approve and post replies](/eirin-ai-docs/working-with-eirin/approve-and-post-replies.md).
* **On** for a store or social account: routine replies post on their own. Anything that needs judgement, for example a crash report, a complaint about spending, or a roadmap question, still waits for you.

Turn it on for each store under **Store connections**, or for each account under **Social connections**. The **Overview** tab shows the current setting next to **Can act**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Support email is the exception.** Even with replies on, every support reply waits for your approval, and Eirin never skips a support email on its own. See [Support email](/eirin-ai-docs/connect-your-sources/support-email.md).
{% endhint %}

## How Eirin learns your voice

Eirin learns your studio's tone from your team's past replies and your reply rules. It learns **tone and voice, not facts**. To teach Eirin about your game, add your FAQ, patch notes and game bible on the [Knowledge](/eirin-ai-docs/working-with-eirin/knowledge-base.md) tab. Replies that use them show **Grounded on** in the queue.

To see how replies stay under your control, read [Guardrails and permissions](/eirin-ai-docs/trust-and-safety/guardrails-and-permissions.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://eirin-ai.gitbook.io/eirin-ai-docs/getting-started/set-up-auto-replies.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
